Eleemosynary: A Play Lee Blessing

Cotuit Center for the Arts and the Town of Sandwich will present “Eleemosynary,” a one-act play by Lee Blessing, at Town Hall in Sandwich, on Sunday, November 25 at 2 pm. That's exactly what happened last week when a short digital video with original music wouldn't play at the preview of Lee Blessing's quirky, 1985 one-act, Eleemosynary. Dorcas lives in Los Angeles and is a divorced mother of two. I recall seeing the play many years ago and never forgot the title Eleemosynary because it has such a poetic ring to it and I had never heard the word before. It follows the relationships between three generations of women. It is also an overpraised play by Lee Blessing. It's no wonder Echo cherished the word, but for different reasons.
